We used to have turnip/yam bean (sengkuang in Malay) in popiah filling. This time I bought the sengkuang first time ever, its sweetness and juiciness really enhance the taste of the popiah.
Ingredients
- gobo/greater burdock 牛蒡
- carrot 胡萝卜
- cauliflower 包菜花
- daikon radish 白萝卜
- turnip/yam bean 沙葛
- chopped onion 洋葱粒
- chopped garlic 蒜米
- spring roll pastry 薄饼皮
- light soy sauce 酱油
- fish sauce 鱼露
- sesame oil 麻油
- pepper 胡椒
Steps
- Cut the vegetable into desire size. 蔬菜切成喜欢的大小。
- Heat up the pan with cooking oil. Saute the onion and garlic. 以菜油烧热锅,再爆香葱和蒜。
- Then follow by other vegetable. 然后加入其它蔬菜。
- Season with light soy sauce, fish sauce, sesame oil and pepper. Off the heat and set to cold. This will be the filling. 用酱油、鱼露、麻油和胡椒调味,熄火放凉既是内馅。
- Scoop some filling into the middle of spring roll pastry. Fold both sides to the middle then roll up. Serve them with your favorite dipping sauce. 舀些内馅在薄饼皮中央,两边向内折再卷起来。上桌时附上沾酱。
