Turnip/Yam bean (Sengkuang) Spring Roll

We used to have turnip/yam bean (sengkuang in Malay) in popiah filling. This time I bought the sengkuang first time ever, its sweetness and juiciness really enhance the taste of the popiah.

Ingredients

  • gobo/greater burdock    牛蒡
  • carrot    胡萝卜
  • cauliflower    包菜花
  • daikon radish    白萝卜
  • turnip/yam bean    沙葛
  • chopped onion    洋葱粒
  • chopped garlic    蒜米
  • spring roll pastry    薄饼皮
  • light soy sauce    酱油
  • fish sauce    鱼露
  • sesame oil    麻油
  • pepper    胡椒

  Steps

  1. Cut the vegetable into desire size.
  2. Heat up the pan with cooking oil. Saute the onion and garlic.
  3. Then follow by other vegetable.
  4. Season with light soy sauce, fish sauce, sesame oil and pepper. Off the heat and set to cold. This will be the filling.
  5. Scoop some filling into the middle of spring roll pastry. Fold both sides to the middle then roll up. Serve them with your favorite dipping sauce.
